Sail Donors

Hoist Away Bags honors the craftsmanship, character and history of your sail. Being a sailor myself, I understand how important this sail was in making memories you’ll have for the rest of your life…some more harrowing or funny than others. It’s those stories and your own story of how sailing came to you that I love sharing as part of the sail legacy created and stitched into every item I create from re-purposing your retired sail.

We welcome sails that are ready for “retirement”. We typically take ALL types, sizes and vintages, including spinnakers. Let us know what you have and we'll make arrangements for the hand-off. For starters shoot us an email with the following info and we can coordinate logistics from there:

1)  how many sails you’d like to donate;

2) material sails are made from (aka: Dacron, Kevlar racing sails etc.);

3) Type(s) of boat sail(s) are from:

4) Where are the sails currently being kept?

In addition to freeing up extra space in your basement or garage, in exchange for sails donated from boats 24’ or larger, I will create from YOUR sail one of my signature drawstring, stowaway bags with colors you pick out, complete with your sail legacy stitched inside. We don't believe in "pick something off the shelf". For all other sail donations, the style of bag depends upon type of sail and weight of material and how many sails – so let’s talk!
